Summer is just around the corner. We can start to look forward to BBQs, extreme heat and Texas swimming holes. If you’re really lucky you might also be planning for some international travel. Not only can the library set you up with some great books to read on your long journey, we can also help you communicate while you’re abroad.

The library has a great selection of foreign language phrase books and new ones are on their way to Central soon! These pocket-sized language guides are a great way to get some essential phrases down for your trip. Many of them also offer tips about getting around in the country you are visiting and some information about the culture which will help you blend in, or at least get along better with the locals.

You can find the phrase books by searching our catalog for the language of your choice and phrase book. For instance, “French phrase book” as a search yields 32 titles. For more tips on searching for language instruction material, check out APL’s Language Information Guide.

Happy travelling!
