Introducing a new, more social catalog

Screenshot of Austin Public Library's New BiblioCommons Catalog

We are very happy to announce the debut of a new catalog. You as a reader of this blog have an opportunity to give it a try ahead of the general launch on August 27th.

Take advantage and get that new username you've always wanted. Other things to try: Look at a jacket cover! Rate a book! Add a comment! Create a list! There's even more than that! That's enough exclamation points!

Whole Foods Hiring for New Location

Whole Foods is hiring primarily for Bee Caves, but there are job opportunities with all stores here in the more centralized Austin area.

The Bee Caves store has not yet opened but they are accepting applications via the website provided in the job posting. Applicants are asked to apply on line at http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/careers/. After applying, those selected will be contacted and asked to come in for an interview.

Come into the Job Center Located at the Carver Branch to get some help preparing for these opportunities.

Got Questions? Get Answers! Ask a Librarian

Ask a Librarian has everything you want to know about the library and its services, and a place to ask questions on any topic.  We just started using a new software (library.austintexas.gov/ask), so returning customers will see a new interface. Find the answer to your question using the search box or by browsing topics and archived questions.  The new system stores questions and their answers. This allows instant answers to pop up in real time when a question is asked that is already in the database.  If you don't find an answer, submit your question to us, and we'll respond as quickly as possible.

The new service allows email and texting, and we will add chat later this year. Ask a Librarian is found under Services at the top of the library's homepage, under Contact at the bottom of the page, and on the FindIt toolbar.

Check Consumer Reports Before You Make that Next Big Buy

Would you like to know what Consumer Reports has to say about a product before you buy it? Easy! Just pull out your Austin Public Library Card and log in to the Austin Public Library’s database pages. The full text of the magazine including photographs and charts is available online from the most current issue back to January, 1991.
