Did you see this slidshow in the New York Times about the Sakura Matsuri festival?  It's held every year, in the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, and celebrates all things Japanese... Including a truly extravagant cosplay fashion show.

Seriously, y'all... These costumes will blow you away!   Enjoy!

Spots are still open for the Cosplay Skit Contest....

Register your  team  today!

Filming will be on May 31st  (if you can't make that date, email us and we'll discuss alternatives)

We'll be announcing the winner of our "When will we run out of wristbands" contest VERY soon!

Pick up your wristbands!

Did you register early? (before May 1)

If so... it's time to head to your local library and pick up your wristbands!

Also -- did you know we're giving away souvenier cups this year?

These will ONLY be available at YomiCon and you can pick yours up in the Fruits Basket Cafe!

These reusable cups are just one of the many ways the Austin Public Library is reducing trash as part of the City of Austin's Zero Waste Initiative!  Read more at Dare to Go Zero!

See you at YomiCon!

Things to Do Before YomiCon

Okay, okay...We heard you!  You are all anxiously awaiting YomiCon 2012!

Sadly, it's still 2 months away... and while librarians may have magic powers, speeding up time is not one of them. *sniff!*

What can you do to fill your hours in the meantime (besides pining away for YomiCon)?

Contest: How quickly will we run out of wristbands for YomiCon 2012?

YomiCon registration opens at 5pm TODAY (Wednesday, March 28)!

At 5pm exactly, you'll see a new post at the top of this page with links to the registration forms!

Are you excited? So are we!

We can't wait to see all the registrations start pouring in!

In fact, we're wondering exactly how quickly we'll run out of wristbands.... aren't you?

Want to take a guess?

Submit your guess in our first contest for a Golden Ticket!

Golden Tickets will be replacing Yen at this year's YomiCon, and can be exchanged for something cool from our Prize Room. Golden Tickets can only be won...which means you must compete in something (or be selected for a surprise award) in order to enter the Prize Room.

Registration Opens March 28 at 5 p.m.

Registration for YomiCon will open on Wednesday, March 28 at 5 p.m.

Registration is 100% online and 100% in advance this year... yes, that means you can register early, from the comfort of home, in your PJs if you want to, instead of at the last minute, in the sun, sweating through your costume. Yay!

Register early -- we will run out of wristbands this year!
