Spanish Dual Language Storytime

Hora de cuentos en dos idiomas

Recommended for ages 5 and under. Recomendado para niños y niñas menores de 5 años.

All ages storytime which uses both English and Spanish to present books, rhymes and songs. It differs from a traditional bilingual storytime in that some material is presented in English while other material is presented in Spanish, allowing for a natural transition between stories and activities and exposing children to both languages in an inviting environment. Program length can vary.

Programs begin on time, for best experience we recommend you do too! Please arrive a few minutes early to gain entrance. Note that in some locations, free tickets (available in the branch on the day of the program) will be required for admittance. Steve Wiman & Beverly Penn Art Exhibit

The St. John Branch of the Austin Public Library invites you to learn about and explore the work of Austin-area artists.

Steve Wiman is an assemblage artist and owner of an unusual antique store in Austin called Uncommon Objects. He is a graduate of the University of North Texas, and he attended graduate art school at The University of Texas. It was the study of color and composition through painting that gave him his aesthetic foundation. His mission as an artist is finding beauty in the mundane and shining a light on it.

Beverly Penn is a sculptor and professor of Metals in Studio Art at the School of Art and Design at Texas State University. She completed her MFA from the State University of New York in New Paltz and received a Fulbright Fellowship and Rockefeller Foundation residency in Bellagio, Italy. Her work explores the contradicting need to both idealize and modify the natural environment.
