Mirror Mirrored: Contemporary Art and Fairy Tales

January 18 — February 24, 2019

Check out the Mirror Mirrored Events.

Corwin Levi’s book Mirror Mirrored provides the framework for his mixed-media exhibit featuring local, national and international artists reimagining Grimms’ Fairy Tales.

As writer Neil Gaiman reminds us, "Fairy Tales are more than true--not because they tell us dragons exist, but because they tell us dragons can be beaten." Today, the most dangerous monsters reside not in haunted castles or forests, but right here in the real world. These tales are metaphorical swords and shields for our everyday struggles, and remind us that whether we are poor, unloved, sick, invisible, weak, depressed, oppressed, trapped, discriminated against, or simply mismatched with our world, we can conquer our demons and find a home that is right for us.

Featured artists: Christina Coleman, Amy Cutler, Sarah Fagan, Terra Goolsby, Annalise Gratovich & Polly Morwood, Katy Horan, Julia Jacquette, Tsz Kam & Nat Bradford, Joseph Keckler, John Kelly, Sara Madandar, Anna Von Mertens, Paul Miller (aka DJ Spooky), Brittany De Nigris, Emily O’Leary, David Packer, Rachel Perry, Agustin Lucho Pozo, Denise Prince, Debra Smith, Kiki Smith, Ashley Thomas, Carrie Mae Weems, Stephanie Williams
