  • Recycled Reads opened in 2009 as the Library’s used bookstore.
  • Quickly, Library staff realized that recycling unwanted material (and keeping it out of the landfill) was just as important as selling material back to the community.
  • Today, Recycled Reads has become the go-to spot for upcycling and repurposing material in the Library.
  • With partners Goodwill Industries of Central Texas and Austin Resource Recovery, the Austin Public Library keeps hundreds of tons of material out of landfills every year and contributes to the City of Austin’s zero waste goals.

The Recycled Reads Bookstore is located in Council District 7 of the City of Austin.
