Free Tutoring Online and in the Library

Parents and students, the Austin Public Library is hosting free tutorial sessions and would like for you to come and participate. Need help with homework? Go online or visit any of the branches around Austin and a tutor will work with you one-on-one to help solve whatever problems you may have academically. We have both Brainfuse and VICTORY tutorial programs available for students in grades K-12  to utilize.

This is an enriching opportunity that you do not want to miss. Parents, get the kids out of the house during summer break and ensure that their time is wisely spent. Students, this is the perfect way to get help with all of your projects, homework,  and keep your skills up during the summer. Start the school year with a little more knowledge under your belt and power your way down the road to success.

Brainfuse: ignite your mindBrainfuse
If you need homework help after school, Brainfuse provides online tutoring for students and is accessible with an Internet connection and an Austin Public Library card. Kids without a Library Card can access Brainfuse on any of the Library computers or by using the Library's Wi-Fi connection.

Live tutors are available online, Monday - Sunday, 2 PM - 11 PM. Click HERE to get started.

Students communicate with live tutors using an interactive whiteboard to chat, write, draw, copy/paste text or images and graph homework problems. All live sessions are saved and can be replayed as well as shared with friends and teachers by email. Using the CloudPack feature, students can store and upload MS Word, Excel, JPG and other accepted file types directly onto the whiteboard. Other special features include the Writing Lab, the 24/7 Center, FlashBulb flashcards, SAT/ACT test prep and collaboration tools.

Subjects include:

  • English / Language Arts
  • Spanish Language Lab
  • Social Studies / History
  • Science - including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
  • Math - including Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Calculus

A tutor reading to childrenThe Austin Public Library partners with the Austin Independent School District to offer after school tutoring through the VICTORY Tutorial Program. VICTORY (Volunteers in Communities Tutoring Our Responsible Youth) offers free tutoring to students at designated branches of the Austin Public Library.

Students are matched on a 1:1 basis with volunteers from the greater Austin community. The student/tutor pairs meet at regularly scheduled sessions in the Library for a minimum of an hour each week to work on homework assignments and skills for which the student needs extra reinforcement and practice. Tutoring sessions are held in the late afternoon or early evening on Monday through Thursday.
