The Austin Public Library and the Austin Independent School District encourage the Austin community to READ and Unleash Your Imagination. The READ poster is part of an initiative to spread awareness about the ways in which reading and literacy can transform lives. Reading opens up new worlds of exploration for the mind, increases the ability to focus, builds analytical skills and even reduces stress. Download the poster from home or visit an Austin Public Library near you to pick up a free copy while supplies last.
This year's READ campaign features AISD Superintendent Dr. Paul Cruz and AISD Performing Arts Students, who performed in this year's district-wide summer musical. As Superintendent of the Austin Independent School District, Dr. Paul Cruz guides the district in realizing a plan to reinvent the urban school experience. The AISD Fine Arts Department is part of that vision. The arts provide students with unique experiences that allow them to explore their passions, maximize their creativity and critical thinking skills and learn valuable lessons about self-motivation, dedication, teamwork and communication.
The READ poster, in conjunction with APL’s My Library awareness campaign, invites Austinites and their families to get to know the resources at their neighborhood Library and sign up for a Library Card to check out books and access our Virtual Library from home.
