This Friday is the first day of summer - and it's starting to feel like a real Texas June around here. Every time my cat comes inside, she flops down on the concrete to cool off... and sometimes I feel like following her lead! There are all kinds of ways to keep cool in the summer - eating cold foods like ice cream, watermelon, and snow cones, jumping in the icy water at Barton Springs, or staying inside with an art project or a good book. We've also got lots of activities planned for youth this summer at your local library branch. Make sure to stop by for a book, one of our programs, and sign the whole family up for our Summer Reading Program!

The chameleon is feeling blue because he's lonely, so he goes and visits a yellow banana, pink cockatoo, swirly snail, brown boot, and so on. Each time, not only does he change his color to match the object or animal, but he also contorts himself into a shape that matches them.
