What's your favorite musical? Mine is Singin' in the Rain. You have your Gene Kelly and your Donald O'Connor, of course, but Jean Hagen is also brilliant in it. "An' I KAINT STAN' 'im!"
Or are you more partial to Fred and Ginger? Or maybe more modern musicals, Cabaret, for instance?
This is the fourth summer Turner Classic Movies is having a MOOC--a massive open online course. The first year was noir, then slapstick, last summer it was Hitchcock, this year it's musicals. I won't link to it through the library's web site, but it's easy to find. The courses are fun. You can get involved or you can just skim them. They're unstructured. It's easy to catch up if you idle a few days. They're free, although TCM hopes you'll stumble into their online store and buy something. But why would you do that when the library has almost all the movie musicals listed in the syllabus?
