Get hands-on with 16mm film to create stunning drawn-on-film animation every 2nd Monday of the month at the Howson Branch! 

Learn how to paint on transparent film, manipulate images on developed film, and scratch the emulsion off opaque black film (or "leader") to create unique and brilliant visual effects that can only be achieved with these long-forgotten analog techniques. Come to a single workshop and make a quick one-off short film, or attend multiple sessions to develop a longer project. You can take home your physical reel or take advantage of our partnership with the Texas Archive of the Moving Image to professionally digitize your film.
