Black Joy & Resistance Music Series - Chief Cleopatra
ELB Black Musician Showcase

The Austin Public Library and The Library Foundation presents bands from the Electric Lady Bird collection to celebrate Black History Month with a Black Joy and Resistance Concert Series that highlights the amazing talent of our local black musicians and their counterparts. This showcase will provide space to cultivate a sense of joy that honors the humanity, resilience, and diverse talent in our black community.

About the Musician

Growing up in Corsicana, Texas, Cleo embarked on her musical journey as a child listening to gospel, playing piano, and participating in a drumline band in school. As an artist in collaboration with fellow musician/guitarist Leonard Martinez, Cleo experiments with elements of R&B, Funk, Hip Hop, and Alternative Rock like a musical chemist. Chief Cleopatra is a rising avant-garde musician in the Austin music scene.
