Milwood Movie Night

Directed, co-written, and starring Talking Heads frontman and musical legend David Byrne, True Stories (1986) tells the story of a small, yet fictional town in Texas as it prepares a “Celebration of Specialness” in honor of the one-hundred-and-fifty-year anniversary of Texas independence. This quirky film is deeply steeped in the Americana of the 1980s and loaded with Texas scenery.

True Stories stars John Goodman, Annie McEnroe, Swoosie Kurtz, Spalding Gray, Pops Staples, and Tito Larriva. It was released in 1986 and given 3.5 out of 4 stars by Roger Ebert.
