Paper Lei Making: Storytelling & Crafting with the Austin History Center

Celebrating the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we will learn how to make a paper ti leaf lei together. The presentation starts with browsing through artifacts archived at the Austin History Center to introduce different ways of storytelling. Then, we will honor the Hawaiian storytelling tradition of hula and learn about the role of lei before making leis together.

Recommended for pre-k through lower elementary school children and their caregivers. 

Recommended for ages 3 and up
