Solar Eclipse

Step into the cosmic excitement as we ignite anticipation with an array of thrilling events and festivities leading up to the mesmerizing total solar eclipse set to grace the skies over Austin, Texas, on April 8, 2024, from 1:32 PM to 1:41 PM. Prepare to be swept away by celestial wonder!

Solar Glasses:

The following branches are OUT OF GLASSES: Hampton Branch at Oak Hill, Spicewood Springs, Milwood, Menchaca Road, Windsor Park, Old Quarry, Twin Oaks, Pleasant Hill, North Village, Little Walnut, Recycled Reads, Yarborough, Southeast, and Austin History Center

Solar Glasses will be distributed to the public starting on Thursday, April 4, 2024 while supplies last at all Austin Public Library locations. Please note:

  • 2 per person. 
  • We cannot provide educators with class sets. 
  • We cannot provide businesses or organizations glasses for their staff. 
  • Once we are out, we will not be replenishing our quantities, however, a limited number of glasses will also be handed out at our 9 Total Eclipse Watch Parties taking place around Austin on Monday, April 8th. NOTE: (1) pair of solar glasses per participant at Eclipse Watch Parties, while supplies last.
