The Crafty Adult: Batik Workshop for Beginners

Come make your own creative batik prints. Learn the art and history of batik, understand the symbolic meanings of its colors and designs, appreciate the wisdom and creativity of Indonesian people. Take home your own handmade textile after the workshop. All materials are provided. No previous experience is required. Limited to 25 seats. First comes, first served.

About Batik:

Batik is a dyeing technique using wax resist. The English word batik is borrowed from Javanese bathik. In 2009, UNESCO recognized Indonesian batik as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

About the Presenter:

Rumah Budaya Indonesia at Austin is a nonprofit organization registered with Texas State and focuses on promoting Indonesian culture through various activities and events in the Greater Austin area.
