The Crafty Adult: Weft Faced Weaving
featuring Juliann Krute
Celebrate Native American Heritage Month. In this workshop, we’ll weave coasters on simple cardboard looms using easy techniques anyone can learn. The weaving method itself is universal, but we’ll draw inspiration from Choctaw color stories and motifs—like half-diamonds and bold contrasts—that honor the Grandfather Diamondback. Attendees can choose their own path: keep to simple stripes, try a clasped-weft half diamond, or explore freeform shapes in the spirit of Saori weaving. Every piece will be unique, meaningful, and entirely yours.
Taught by Juliann Krute, a 4th-generation fiber artist and member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
