Teens 13-18 can discover the inner workings of laptops through hands-on disassembly and troubleshooting in this workshop.
Are you between the ages of 13 and 18 and curious about how computers work? Join us for an exciting hands-on workshop hosted by Fix-It Austin and taught by staff from the City of Austin's Community PC Program. Laptops and all necessary tools will be provided. No prior technical experience is required—just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm!
What You’ll Learn:
Understanding Laptop Basics
- Get introduced to the core components of a laptop.
- Learn the functions of each part and how they work together.
Hands-On Disassembly
- Carefully disassemble a laptop provided by CPCP.
- Identify and understand the purpose of the main components inside.
Troubleshooting Skills
- Learn common laptop issues and how to diagnose them.
- Practical tips for troubleshooting and basic repairs
Safety and Best Practices
- Essential safety guidelines for working with electronics.
- Best practices for handling and assembling laptop components.
Fixit Clinics are all about do-it-together, hands-on disassembly, troubleshooting and learning to repair.
