Kicking the Bucket Listening Club
You may think it's about dying, but it's actually about living.
A book club for your ears - and so much more. Join us for an 8-week community workshop pairing hands-on basket weaving, shared listening, and expert-led exploration of end-of-life values, decisions, and resources.
Each session includes:
- Artist Melissa Knight teaches a hands-on basket-weaving technique - then we weave while we listen.
- A 20-minute episode of Kicking the Bucket - an audio dramedy about two ride-or-die octogenarians determined to exit life on their own terms.
- EOL experts and Occupational Therapists Michelle McCarty and Melissa Saffron of Reinventing Independence guide a discussion on end-of-life values, decisions, and resources.
Join Dolores and Howard, our daring octogenarian duo with more spunk than spring chickens, as they plot their grand exit from life - on their own quirky terms. Alzheimer's and cancer are their uninvited guests, but before their children can say "nursing home," Dolores and Howard are making a break for it, in ways that are as laughably imperfect as they are inspiring.
Designed as a full series experience - we encourage you to attend all 8 sessions. However, drop-ins are always welcome and will receive a story recap.
Themes include Alzheimer's, cancer, and death.
