Big Trouble in Little China (1986)
Film Legend James Hong plays Lo Pan, an ancient wizard cursed by Emperor Qin Shi Huang (the man who invented the term ‘Emperor’). The curse dooms Lo Pan to roam the earth as little more than a spirit, occasionally able to take control of a decrepit body, one too weak to resist possession. To break the curse, he must sacrifice a green-eyed woman to the gods. Having found a woman from China with green eyes, Lo Pan stands at the threshold of freedom. Unfortunately, standing in his way is Wang Chi (played by Dennis Dun), a restaurant owner and Kung-fu master whose fiancé, Miao Yin (played by Suzee Pai), is to be sacrificed.
Big Trouble in Little China (1986) is an action comedy from director and horror master John Carpenter. It also stars Victor Wong, Carter Wong, Peter Kwong, and James Pax. This film is a blend of magic, kung-fu action, and special effects. While a bomb at the box office (largely due to a rushed production schedule and limited marketing), Big Trouble has gone on to become a cult classic and is generally well reviewed by modern audiences.
Kurt Russell makes an appearance in the film as Jack Burton, a truck driver.
Big Trouble in Little China is rated PG-13 for moderate violence, profanity, and intense scenes.
