Dive into the cool waters of Texas during September’s H-E-B Free First Sunday with free exhibit admission from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and themed family activities with local scientists and organizations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  • Explore STEM activities with Girlstart
  • Experience hands-on activities with Austin Water, including “Stop the Grease Blob” about how to properly dispose of kitchen fats, oils and grease, and “Only Flush Toilet Paper” to see differences in how toilet paper and wipes break down in water
  • Interact with Colorado River Alliance’s EnviroScape model, which teaches participants about the importance of keeping watersheds clean
  • Discover how groundwater and surface water work together in nature by watching a live demonstration led by geoscientists from the Bureau of Economic Geology
  • 10:30 a.m. & 11:30 a.m. Enjoy a water-themed story time and craft with Austin Public Library
  • 2 p.m. Celebrate Texas water with a FREE screening of The Neches River: Wild Heart of East Texas in the Texas Spirit Theater
