Fraud & Scam Prevention for Older Adults
featuring the Area Agency on Aging
This presentation is designed to empower older adults with the knowledge and tools to recognize, avoid, and report scams. Participants will learn about the most common types of fraud targeting seniors—such as phone, email, romance, and home repair scams—and the red flags that signal potential danger. Practical strategies will be shared to protect personal information, safeguard finances, and build confidence in saying “no” to suspicious requests.
Attendees will also receive guidance on what steps to take if they suspect they have been targeted, including how to report scams and where to find trusted resources for support. The session is interactive, easy to follow, and tailored to help older adults feel more secure in their daily lives.
By the end of the presentation, participants will be better prepared to stay safe, avoid exploitation, and share this knowledge with friends and family.
A Medicare Benefit Counselor will be in attendance as well for additional questions regarding Medicare fraud and prevention.
