Beyond Juneteenth

A Visual Reflection of Memory, Culture, and Imagination

Inspired by the powerful work Curator Leta Harrison witnessed during this year’s Juneteenth celebrations, Beyond Juneteenth aims to extend the conversation beyond a single day and create a visual space for shared memory, reflection, and community imagination. This exhibition honors the beauty, depth, and diversity of the Black experience through the lenses of local photographers whose work captures history in motion—full of joy, complexity, and cultural pride.

Hosted at the Central Austin Public Library, a place dedicated to inclusivity, education, and public engagement, this exhibit invites visitors to engage with the images not just as observers, but as participants in an ongoing dialogue about liberation, legacy, and the future.

Beyond Juneteenth is more than a look back—it’s a call to see, feel, and imagine what’s next.
