Considered THE Classic of Gothic Romance, Dracula is possibly the single most adapted work of fiction ever written. While Bram Stoker didn’t invent the Vampire, this one book became the blueprint for all future iterations of the haunting creature of folklore. Most people know this story, but few have read the book.
Written as a collection of documents, Dracula is an epistolary novel, composed of letters and journal entries. This can seem difficult to modern readers but was a popular story structure in the nineteenth century. This makes the book about the events and the characters without putting a single person as the POV character, though most of the story comes to us from the perspective of John Harker. Take your time and the story will emerge as you read. This one is definitely worth your time.
Dracula is in the Public Domain and is available in many formats for free as well as through the library in book, eBook, and audiobook format (subject to demand).
