Virtual Read Watch Talk

The Body/Stand By Me

Literature purists will stand by the book. Film buffs will make a case for the movie. Either way, there is something to discuss. Take part in our movie-book club by reading and watching on your own, and then discussing the merits of each with us online.

For the month of July, we'll be diving straight into a coming-of-age summer with Stephen King's 1982 novella, "The Body," which was published in his four-novella collection, Different Seasons. Rob Reiner popularized the story with his 1986 adaptation titled Stand by Me, which has become cemented in the American film canon as a timeless love letter to childhood and friendship. Read the novella, watch the film, and join us virtually for a fun, nostalgia-filled conversation!
