Coding 4 All: Transforming Data into Melodies

Guest Speaker: Dom Vicinanza

This event explores the art of creating music from data and the ways sound can enhance our experience of the world around us. It features examples of sonification, including music created for NASA using data from Voyager, as well as compositions based on Yellowstone geyser activity. The program concludes with a live performance from Dom Vicinanza, transforming real-time earth movement data from Yellowstone into melodies.

Dom is passionate about using music as a bridge to communicate complex scientific ideas in ways that are engaging, inclusive, and inspiring. As a music composer and researcher in auditory display, Dom has affiliations with Anglia Ruskin University, GÉANT, Cambridge, UK, and more!
