Beginner Birding Walk & Talk
featuring Travis Audubon
If you've ever wanted to learn more about local birds and how to identify them, now is your chance! Learn the basics of bird watching (aka birding) and go on a casual bird walk with Ashley Oheim from Travis Audubon, Austin's oldest conservation organization. Hundreds of species of birds are found in Austin, so birding can be a fun and rewarding hobby without having to leave the city.
Keep in mind this program begins before the Library opens. Please meet behind the Library in the parking lot for the group to begin their walk.
- Participants should plan to walk about 1.5 miles in total. We will be walking on sidewalks, pavement, crushed gravel paths, grass, dirt, and potentially some mud if it's been rainy, so choose shoes accordingly. (The best viewing in the park required going "off-trail.")
 - There are public porta-potties available at the park in case anyone needs access. The Library won't open until noon.
 - If you'd like to borrow a pair of binoculars for this event, please arrive by 8:30 to allow ample time to loan out a pair with our team.
 - Bird field guides will be provided.
 - Walk will be at a slow and comfortable pace.
