Roots & Wings: Festival Awakening

We’re excited to be hosting an official Roots & Wings Festival Event! The Roots & Wings Festival is held from Saturday, October 18th -Sunday, November 2nd, and is a community-wide celebration honoring Arbor Day and Monarch Appreciation Day in Austin. Join us in celebrating the Roots & Wings Festival on Saturday, October 18th with Roots & Wings: Festival Awakening.

Roots & Wings: Festival Awakening is a free, all-ages outdoor festival full of nature, discovery, and family fun! Enjoy guided garden tours, adopt a free sapling or milkweed, and witness the magic of a live butterfly release. Explore hands-on nature crafts for all ages like seed balls and DIY natural insecticide and browse a nature-themed library book display with on-site checkout.

Climb and swing through trees with Urban Forestry and speak with beekeepers from the Texas Pollinator Project and Round Rock Honey, offering demos and honey tastings. Meet local experts and visit engaging booths from Austin Nature & Science Center, Bat Conservancy International, UT Biodiversity Center & Jha Lab, PollinATX, Grow Green, and more!

Please note: This event is not held at the library, but at the North Austin Community Garden, located behind the YMCA of Austin North at 1000 W Rundberg Ln, Austin, TX 78758.

This is an outdoor event with limited facilities, so please dress appropriately—bring sunscreen, bug spray, water, and weather-friendly clothing.

Free parking is available at the YMCA and Little Walnut Creek Branch Library.

Roots & Wings: Festival Awakening  es un festival al aire libre gratuito, para todas las edades, lleno de naturaleza, descubrimiento y diversión familiar. 

Disfrute de visitas guiadas al jardín, adopte un arbolito o o algodoncillo gratis y sea testigo de la magia de una liberación de mariposas en vivo Explore manualidades prácticas con la naturaleza para todas las edades, como bolas de semillas e insecticidas naturales caseros, y explore la exhibición de libros de la biblioteca con temática natural, con préstamo en el lugar.

Escale y súbase a los árboles con Urban Forestry y hable con los apicultores del Texas Pollinator Project y Round Rock Honey, que ofrecen demostraciones y catas de miel.
