Willie Mae Kirk Branch Renovation Project
Current status: Under Construction, branch closed
Expected reopening: Spring 2027
Renovation of the Willie Mae Kirk Branch is underway, with improvements to interior and exterior spaces and the building's systems. Coordinating the design of the new mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems took longer than originally planned, which moved the construction schedule.

Old Quarry Branch Renovation Project
Current status: Under Construction, branch closed
Expected reopening: Fall 2026
Renovation of the Old Quarry Branch is underway, with improvements to interior and exterior spaces and the building's systems. During final utility coordination and building commissioning, additional electrical infrastructure and approval requirements were identified that must be completed before the branch can safely open to customers and staff. The library and construction contractors are currently working toward reopening later this fall. Austin Public Library will announce a specific reopening date for the branch, and a new date for the Grand Reopening Celebration, once the remaining work is finalized.

Little Walnut Creek Branch Renovation Project
Current status: Preparing for Construction, Branch Open
Expected start: Early 2027
Expected Closure Duration: About one year
Design is complete for the Little Walnut Creek renovation, which includes accessibility upgrades and interior improvements and builds on the roof and system work already finished at the branch. The City is now selecting a contractor.

Design is complete for the Menchaca renovation, which includes a new roof along with site and interior improvements. The City is now selecting a contractor.
