Old Quarry and Willie Mae Kirk Branch Renovations
April 2025 Update: In recent project review, APL identified additional electrical and structural needs, which required revisions to the site plans. These changes will allow us to incorporate improvements made possible through cost savings from the HVAC and roof installations. With these updates, the reopening timeline for both branches is being adjusted to Fall 2025.

REOPENING DELAYED
Due to technological issues beyond our control, the Austin History Center will not be ready to reopen in our new space in April as planned. We don't currently have a reopening date, but we will update our website and social media as soon as we have more information to share.

Central Library Shared Learning Rooms Temporarily Closed Starting May 12th for Tech Makeover
Starting on Monday, May 12th, 2025, the Central Library will begin a comprehensive remodel of its eleven Shared Learning Rooms (SLRs) to modernize outdated technology, improve durability against tampering and theft, and transform each space into a more innovative and collaborative environment.
